Boulevardia on Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri on June 17th, 2020

Boulevardia had its beginnings in 2014 in the West Bottoms in the shadow of the 12th Street Bridge. In 2017 our home moved to the Stockyards District. Starting in 2022, we’re thrilled to call Grand Boulevard – one of the most iconic thoroughfares in Kansas City. After an exciting 2022 at its new location at Crown Center, the festival is excited to welcome nearly 60 national, regional and local acts to perform on Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17. Headliners performing on the main stage include Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Surfaces, The War and Treaty, grandson, K.Flay, and Big Freedia.
Kansas City was grateful to welcome grandson and K.Flay to the Midwest as they stopped as headliners for our local music fest of 8 years, Boulevardia! This was an early stop on the “I Love you, I’m Trying” tour following Grandson’s second studio album of the same name. The festival was lively, loud, and as always, hot- but that didn’t stop anyone from having a great time as K.Flay started our Saturday evening with an amazing set. Her standout moments included a cover of “Bulls on Parade” by Rage Against the Machine during one of K.Flay’s hits, and her playing an unreleased single for us this evening.

Her set at Boulevardia flowed into grandson’s as he stepped up next, starting off with his high energy song “Drones,” straight from his new album. He also brought K.Flay back up on stage later in the night to perform one of their many collabs “Zen.” Overall, as a fan of both artists this was such an incredible experience and possibly my favorite grandson performance yet!
